The Opportunity Of a Lifetime for Amateur Racers
Once again in 2013, amateur racers will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to compete alongside the country’s top men and women professional bicycle racers at the 15th annual edition of the Nature Valley Grand Prix, one of the premier races on the 2013 USA Cycling National Racing Calendar. The men's team will be coached by multi-time world champion Marion Clignet and the women's team will be coached by Michael Engleman of the US Women's Cycling Development Program.
Here’s how it works: the top male and female finishers among amateurs in each of the six Pro Chase qualifying events will form the Nature Valley Cycling Team to race against the pros at the Nature Valley Grand Prix held in East Central Minnesota and Western Wisconsin from June 12 - 16.
Benefits: Selected riders will receive free entry to the Nature Valley Grand Prix, a $350 travel subsidy, ground transportation, host housing, team support and coaching from Michael Engleman and Marion Clignet. They will also receive Rock Star treatment, including public appearances, media coverage, pre-race call ups and prime team warm up space.
Racing on the Nature Valley Cycling teams will bring riders to the attention of the pro team managers who will also attend the event. A number of past participants have received pro team contracts, largely as a result of this attention.
Pre-Race Camp: To prepare the teams, the coaches will hold a camp from June 7 - 11. Teammates will get to know each other, will hone their skills to a razor's edge and will receive advice from two of the best coaches in the world. They'll also get the chance to preview the courses and discuss strategies. The camp will begin in Menomonie, site of the fifth stage of the Nature Valley Grand Prix, and will then move to the Twin Cities as preparations ramp up for the big event.
The six races are sprinkled throughout the United States giving amateurs everywhere the opportunity to earn a trip to compete against the country’s top men and women professional bicycle racers at the Nature Valley Grand Prix.
